Question: Some large power plants are mine-mouth facilities, located at the opening of the coal mine that will supply their fuel. In areas with few coal mines, both the power plant and the mine are likely to be under the same ownership, but in areas with numerous mines they are more likely to be owned by different parties. Why the difference? If they are owned by different parties, what sorts of provisions might you expect to see in the contract between them?
