The marketing department of Lucy and Molly Enterprises (LME) has determined that there is a substantial market for a do-it-yourself woodworking shop. LME has discovered that many individuals would like a place to do woodworking.
Some individuals cannot afford the large investment necessary to purchase all of the appropriate tools while others do not use the tools often enough to make purchase worthwhile. Nevertheless, these individuals do want to do woodworking.
LME has decided to explore the concept of opening a storefront where all of the appropriate equipment is available for rent in the shop on an hourly basis. Customers would come, sign appropriate releases, and then work on their woodworking project themselves.
Decisions should include: the type of process and layout you would have, how this fits into the overall corporate strategy of LME (you may make some assumptions about LME to facilitate decision-making), where you are to locate, forecasting, quality, etc. – all topics from the course as applied to this situation.
The charge is to think about the various topics of the course and pick and choose which ones can be applied to this situation – and to justify why you have chosen what you choose.
