The national debt is currently in excess of $20 Billion. This equates to over $63,000 per citizen. In Illinois, the debt is over $148 Billion, which equates to $11,600 per citizen. While there are many contributing factors to these issues, the establishment of new or higher taxes are often discussed. Sales tax is often part of those proposals. Some have tried to establish a "National Sales Tax" and/or laws to require the collection of sales tax for online retail transactions.
Discuss whether or not you would be in favor of these proposals. Support your position. If you support increased sales tax, justify your position and explain how the new revenue program would be administered. if you do not support these proposals, explain why and provide alternative solutions.
