Societies:
Societies are associations registered under the Societies Act 1968. Section 2(1) of the Act defines a society very broadly as including any club, company, partnership or other association of ten or more people, other than a registered company, corporation, trade union, co-operative society, registered school, bank or partnership of more than twenty persons. Examples of such societies are political parties such as K.A.N.U. and FORD, welfare societies and amateur football clubs. Although registration under the Act does not confer corporate personality on the association it provides a legal framework for proper management of what may be loosely called the association's affairs, and the machinery for the orderly termination of the affairs.
