Simply supported beam deflection

Q1. For simply supported beam shown find out the magnitude of the deflection at a position 4m from the left hand end. Take Young's Modulus as 200GN/m2 and the second moment of area as 900 x 10-6 m4.

Q2. The beam of length 10m is symmetrically placed on the two supports 7 m apart. The loading is 15KN/m between the supports and 20KN at each end. Determine the central deflection of the beam?

E = 210 GN/m2, I = 200 x 10-6m4

Q3. The beam AB is 8 m long and simply supported at its ends and carries loads of 30 KN and 50 KN at points 1m and 5m away from A correspondingly. Determine the magnitude and position of the maximum deflection.

E = 210GN/m2, I = 200 x 10-6m4

Q4. Simply supported beam is 6 m long and consists of a flexural stiffness of 3MNm2. This carries a point load of 800N at the middle and a UDL of 400N/m all along its whole length. Compute the slope at the ends and the deflection in the middle.

Q5. Compute the flexural stiffness of a simply supported beam that will limit the deflection to 2mm at the middle. The beam is 5m long and contains a point load of 1.2KN at the middle and a UDL of 600N/m all along its whole length.

The beam consists of a solid rectangular part twice as deep as it is wide. Given the modulus of elasticity is 120GPa, compute the dimensions of the section.
