Should you prepare resume and practice for interview

Assignment task:

The ability to objectively view any situation without getting influenced by your personal beliefs or thoughts is one of the important characteristics of critical thinking. In business, the hiring managers and/or search committees require critical thinking to evaluate resumes to choose suitable candidates for the required position.

Critical thinking enables hiring managers to hire the best candidate based on objective reasoning, such as qualifications, experience, and education, etc.  When employed effectively, it also ensures that hiring managers avoid selecting a candidate on the basis of factors like gender, age, race, religion, political affiliation or ethnicity.

With that in mind, please consider the following scenario, and answer the discussion question.

Your department has an opening for an administrative support position. As a member of the search committee, you not only have access to the interview questions, you're also privy to intradepartmental conversations that have given you some additional insight into what the department is looking for in terms of the ideal candidate.

Your friend, Annie, applied for the position. You believe she would be an excellent fit because she's a fast learner, and team player. However, the position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience. Annie doesn't have the required experience, but she does have transferrable skills. Plus, she has so much in common with the others in the department. If she could better prepare her resume, and have a successful interview, she could compete for the job.

Should you help Annie prepare her resume and practice for the interview? Using your critical thinking skills, discuss why or why not?
