Problem
If citizens are to have liberty, should this include the liberty to acquire and dispose of property as they see fit? Or are there justified restrictions on economic activity in the name of liberty or justice? Drawing on the thinkers discussed in class so far (Saint Thomas Aquinas, René Descartes, the three main schools of ethical thought, Plato's Kallipolis), defend a position in the debate, (1) marshalling philosophical arguments in support of your thesis and (2) responding to possible criticisms of your position.
