Sharpen our skills when it comes to business professional

Gareth discusses many important parts of writing that students and people in the workplace could use to their advantage. A piece of advice that I found was relatable to my writing style was "Giving Good Headline". Many times I have found myself writing something for a class in school where I was just putting words down and not staying on point with the research topic. Thus, it's a good idea to take a step back, while in the process of a first draft, and create sub-titles/headlines to keep myself focused on what to write. Academic writing can rely on the intuitive ability of the student, depending on the class and subject, to provide the content for which they are writing, and then put down a headline to summarize what they wrote. For academic writing this has proved effective in times where direction is needed, but in the workplace I would imagine that this writing technique is the basis for any document that is being used for work intensive purposes. For example, a supply chain manager proposing a document, discussing where a company can cut costs in their transportation sector, will have previously written the subject matter around the headline of the document being proposed, naturally.

Many of us need to begin to sharpen our skills when it comes to business professional writing, but I believe that it's a good idea for everyone to write more in their daily lives for many reasons. As a result of technology within our lives, Gareth said that it, "frees you up to really write from the hip". The average person now has the ability to put thoughts down on "paper" whenever they want to and we should take advantage of this. The practice of free writing can be beneficial because it will get more young adults prepared for the professional business writing they have to do in their future.
