Sex Offenders are usually perceived as the most disgusting type of offender that we have in the system. Many criminal justice professionals do not want to work with them in the corrections field. I've observed openly from many staff members over the years about how much they dislike this population and that they should be put on an island, far away from society. There are many different types of sex offenses and some types are responsive, while other types have high levels of recidivism (re-arrest/offense). Parole, Probation, Pre-Release Centers, and Pre-Trial programs usually have these offenders on a specialized caseload. This means that one or more Agents handle just these types of offenders. Proactive supervision in the community is paramount and general public expects high levels of surveillance.
Question- Within the past decade many new legal actions have resulted by federal and state officials to protect existing and possibly future victims. If you were an Parole Agent, and had all possible tools available, what strategies would you use to ensure that the general public is safe
