Several years ago I was asked to do some calculations regarding firing bullets into the air to celebrate New Years Eve--a monumentally bad idea. Treating the bullet as a solid lead sphere, and given suitable data, calculate the ratio of the magnitude of the drag force to that of the gravitational force on the bullet at the instant it is fired. Assume turbulent-flow drag.
