WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT:
Each student will complete one written assignment designed to allow them to take concepts from the course and “apply” them in the world around them. The paper is to be 4-5 pages of text, typed (12 point, Times New Roman font) and double spaced with 1 inch margins at the top, bottom, left, and right. The paper should blend textbook material and information gathered by the student into a well written, grammatically correct paper.
Grading Details:
A) Identify and describe several examples of stratification in the United States ?
B) Use your “sociological imagination” to explain:
1) how and why the examples continue to exist ?
2) the impact the examples have on the ?life chances? of Americans in general ?
3) the impact the examples have on you and the ?life chances? of your family ?
C) Grammar, spelling, organization, etc.
Examples of stratification include automobiles, housing, restaurants, cemeteries, clothes, vacation destinations, perfumes, cigarette brands, and many, many others
