Several cities in California have rent control ordinances. These ordinances vary quite a bit from place to place for example, sometimes they apply only to residential property, sometimes to only multi unit residential properties and not single family homes, sometimes only to mobile homes. what do you think about rent control from an "academic" point of view? What is its purpose? Does rent control achieve that purpose or not? How, how now?
