Scenario: Assume the role of Director of Facilities for Big State University's athletic department. The university's main indoor sports arena floor is used by the school's men's and women's basketball team (practice and games) and men's and women's volleyball teams (practice and games). Also, the university's recreation department uses the arena for intramural basketball, intramural volleyball, and intramural futsal (indoor soccer) games throughout the year.
Task: Follow the case method analysis outlined in the supplementary reading (Hums and MacLean, Chp. 3), culminating in writing a year round facility policy that addresses the use of the arena floor by the aforementioned groups. Note, although you are employed by the university athletic department you are charged with making fair decisions for all user groups, therefore you should strive to create a policy that considers intramural programing as equal to the university basketball and volleyball teams. For the purpose of this assignment, prohibiting any one group from using the arena floor is not an option.
