For Project 1, you will begin by watching the 2011 biographical sports drama film Moneyball.
It is the true story about the Oakland Athletics baseball team's 2002 season and their general manager Billy Beane's attempts to assemble a competitive team. Pay close attention to what the unlikely partnership of Billy Beane and Peter Brand are able to accomplish, and then answer the following questions.
1. In class we reviewed the effects of big data . . . what are the specific examples of data, information and knowledge that we see in this film?
2. What are some other things that data is changing?
3. How do they affect your everyday life? Describe the complementary relationship of data and statistics.
