Globalization and Future Critical Infrastructure Protection
Prior to beginning work on this discussion read Chapter Radvanovsky (2013) and Chapter in Sylves (2015).
Disaster relief funds to foreign lands is something that the United States, as a member of the United Nations, is responsible for providing to relieve those affected by globalized disasters. Often times, these funds, along with those from other countries, are used to repair infrastructure that is critical to the country in distress. There are even funds established to cover insurance companies and protect them from bankruptcy in the event of a terrorist attack.
For discussion, read, "The Katrina Case and Foreign Assistance" in Sylves (2015), Chapter 8xt and address the first element and read,
"Terrorism Risk Insurance Act" in Sylves (2015)"
Analyze the recognition of real and perceived threats and the management of risk that occurs when a globalized terrorist attack or natural disaster occurs in the United States.
Evaluate the ethical and legal issues of risk assessment and management that may be a factor in the future of CIP should another large scale terrorist attack take place on U.S. soil.
