From our study of managing change this week it is clear that the attitude of employees toward a change has a profound impact on its successful implementation. We learned that resistance to change varies from "active resistance" to "enthusiastic support", largely based on an employee's attitude toward the change. Hence, much of a manager's effort in the first stage (unfreezing) of change management is aimed at insuring employees have a receptive attitude toward the change to be implemented.
