Explore, a review of the literature (5 to 7 pages), a few of the issues involved theoretical perspectives as they relate to supervisory styles of leadership and its impact on patrol officer behavior. Specifically, how do the patrol officers in their interactions with the community translate the supervisory style of their boss? Be sure to draw upon the latest research and theoretical perspectives on police/community relations and the impact of supervision on these relationships. Literature reviews are an important aspect of learning what is new in the field and also what is currently under debate or trending in the field. While this is an academic exercise, the concept is similar to attending a professional conference where ideas are shared and debated. A review of "what is out there?" is a similar process and provides organizations with some great opportunities to infuse new knowledge into current practice.
