Assignment:
Review the chapters: Interpersonal Communication in Romantic and Family Relationships and The nature of Intimate Relationships
Choose a television show to analyze that displays an intimate relationship (romantic or family). After briefly describing the storyline of the episode, students should first, discuss the concepts from Chapter (Intimate Relationships) to apply and analyze. Second, choose ANOTHER topic discussed in the course (language, gender, culture, perception, non-verbal behavior, listening, deception, emotion, etc.) and use the show to additionally illustrate these concepts. Therefore, the student's paper will have discussion over at least two chapter topics in relation to the television show.
The analysis should be approximately 3 to 4 pages in length, for up to 20 extra credit points. For a correct analysis, you should cite the textbook and the tv show in correct MLA format (Works Cited included).
Students can find shows on DVD, live TV, or websites (such as NBC.com, Hulu.com, etc).
