The scenario for this assignment focuses on emergency response and homeland security. For this assignment, DHS is requesting your service as a consultant. You have received a request to analyze three events that have occurred within the past ten years in the United States. For this assignment, you will need to select three events.

You will need to find scholarly or credible sources that provide information on your selected cases, so keep this in mind as you select them. You have been asked to present your analysis through slides with audio narration. Please write a written script for the audio narration for each slide and place the script in the notes section for each slide. The slide content should reflect a style and format consistent with guidance from the University of Arizona Global Campus Writing Center on PowerPoint presentations.

Format: For each slide, there will be two content areas: the slide itself and the "notes" section corresponding to each slide.

  • Slide content: As you prepare your slides, follow guidance from the University of Arizona Global Campus Writing Center on PowerPoint presentations.
  • Narration with script: For each slide, prepare a script and place the script in the "notes" section corresponding to each slide. Record your voice reading the script word for word for each slide. This will support accessibility for those attending your presentation.

In your slide presentation,

  • Explain methods and response effectiveness of FEMA in a natural disaster case in the United States in the past ten years.
  • Differentiate homeland security responsibilities and functions of agencies across jurisdictions for natural disasters, threats, technological hazards, and biological hazards.
  • Examine the use of fusion centers, intelligence, drones, and skills of members of a DHS agency for one of the following: a natural disaster, threats, or hazards.
  • Analyze applications for the "intelligence cycle" and the Office of Intelligence Analysis for homeland security policy issues in federal, state, tribal, and local jurisdictions.
  • Evaluate ethical, legal, and social justice issues for homeland security actions in a natural disaster case and a diversity policy issue in homeland security.

The slide presentation:

- must be six to eight slides in length (not including title and references slides) and formatted according to APA Style

- must include a separate title slide with the following in title case:

  • title of presentation in bold font
  • student's name
  • name of institution (The University of Arizona Global Campus)
  • course name and number
  • instructor's name
  • due date

- must utilize academic voice. Review the Academic Voice

  • must include an introduction and conclusion paragraph.

- Your introduction paragraph needs to end with a clear thesis statement that indicates the purpose of your paper.

- must use at least four scholarly or credible sources in addition to the course text

- must include a separate references slide that is formatted according to APA Style
