Review the chapter-Developmental Psychology Applied to Aging and do the following:
You will learn about some basic concepts that relate to aging and theories that attempt to explain the aging experience. Each theory provides a different way to think about the aging process. For the discussion board, you will think about the theories critically really drawing out the aspects that make the theory good or weak. You will also think about how you would use these theories to frame a research project (not one you will actually do).
You read about four theories that attempt to understand and explain aging (Biological, Connectionist, Sociocultural, Selection Optimization and Compensation). I would like you to critically think about these theories. Which theories do you feel work best and why (be specific)? Which theories do you feel fall short and why (be specific)? Really challenge the theories. Using one of the theories you feel works best, how might you set up a study on aging?
