Review approaches to peace-a reader in peace studies

Discuss the below in detail:

In response to the Dalai Lama's universal responsibility, a peaceful world filled with like-minded individuals would seem ideal but has proven to be a hard feat. The world we live in now has become so violent and consumed with a self-centered way. Each day of life is a gift that should be held with the greatest care. Global problems are starting to trickle over to other countries due to how interconnected society has become. A different approach to how we react and response to our neighbors will be the determining factor on whether or not we can use the Dalai Lama's ideology. Our once distant world has become completely interconnected making it necessary for more respectful communication. How we once approached global situations is now dependent on the response and help from others. We can no longer rely on ourselves and continue on with a self-centered outlook. As the Dalai Lama put it, "...all beings cherish happiness and do not want suffering. It then becomes both morally wrong and pragmatically unwise to pursue only one's own happiness oblivious to the feelings and aspirations of all others who surround us as members of the same human family." As long as humanity continues to hurt and abuse each other then this possibility will not occur. Future generations depend on our addressing of this issue to treat each other with love and compassion. Until this happens and people are indifferent to the feelings of others we are headed into an even darker place than today.
