Review the APA Guidelines for Providers of Psychological Services to Ethnic, Linguistic, and Culturally Diverse Populations. Think about the possible challenges of addressing culture in the treatment of forensic populations.
1. Review and reflect on the course media segment "Multicultural Considerations". Think about the importance of multicultural competency in-group treatment of forensic populations.
2. Take the self-assessment, Quality and Culture Quiz.
Note: Self-assessments often are used to evaluate strengths and limitations, develop professional goals, and measure progress. This week, you complete the self-assessment, analyze the results, and determine areas that you would like to develop. This assignment will help you draw on your strengths, address your personal limitations, and understand how to meet your professional goals. Although the assessment is located on the Management Sciences for Health website, a site for health care practitioners, the quiz is designed for individuals who work in all health services capacities (including psychology and mental health) in order to evaluate strengths and areas for growth in multicultural competency.
3. Reflect on the results of your self-assessment in terms of what these results tell you about your own cultural awareness and competency. Think about the areas and levels of your cultural awareness and competency. Identify the cultural competencies you would like to develop or develop further.
