Reverse discrimination exists when the affirmative action plan is unfair to white males in that it selects unqualified women and minorities over them, establishes mandatory quotas or bars the selection of white males completely. Although there have been conflicting cases, it is generally agreed that this is acceptable when a racial imbalance exists.
