Resource b has to be taken down for maintenance 10 minutes

Resource B has to be taken down for maintenance 10 minutes every hour (works for 50 minutes, and is down for 10 minutes). Resource D has to be taken down for maintenance 15 minutes every hour (works for 45 minutes, and is down for 15 minutes). Maintenance can be scheduled at any time during each hour.

a) Explain how you would you schedule the maintenances to achieve the maximum average (hourly) process capacity? Use terminology from our course in your answer.

b) Suppose you have one inventory buffer B1 available that can hold up to 25 units. Suppose you put that buffer wherever you need to in order to maximize average (hourly) process capacity. Explain where you would put the buffer and why you would do this (this means that you should explain what would you need to consider to make this decision).
