Statement of the Problem
The topic for the Applied Dissertation generally comes from the student's workplace and must align with the student's concentration area. For this assignment, the student will provide a brief description of background relating to a particular research problem The assignment should include the following items: (a) Introduction, or a brief description of the proposed area of study; (b) Research Problem, the issue or concern hindering the overall effectiveness of the organization; (c) Background and Justification, or evidence for the existence of the problem with at least two references for support; (d) Deficiencies in the Evidence, or a brief discussion on the gaps in the current literature; and (e) Audience, or who will benefit from this study. The paper should be approximately 2 to 3 pages in length and adhere to APA style.
In this Discussion Post, you will have a chance to practice for your Assignment 1. Your post must consist of the following and numbered as follows:
1. Your concentration.
2. Your TOPIC or proposed area of study that you would like to focus on. For example professional development for teachers, standardized testing, the flipped classroom, etc.
3. A brief description of this proposed area of study.
4. Identify your RESEARCH PROBLEM. This is an issue within this proposed area of study that you identify as a problem or a need which is hindering the effectiveness of an institution, a system or a process. WRITE YOUR PROBLEM STATEMENT AS A CLEAR. DECLARATIVE STATEMENT.
5. Evidence that the problem or need that you have identified exists. Cite at least two references that support your claim.
Your classmates and I will review your post both to learn from it, as well as provide you with objective constructive feedback focusing on whether your problem statement is clear and if your evidence is adequate to show that the problem exists. You will do the same for at least TWO of your classmates' posts.
You will use the feedback received to revise your research problem prior to working on Assignment 1.
