Research the music culture and music making process

Assignment:

This is a Music Ethnography assignment:

This will be based on Oahu, Hawaii Polynesian Music.

Music from the Paradise Cove Luau, The Polynesian Culture Center on Oahu

You may google and get music info on the above to places.

Do this as if you were there watching and listening to the music and experienced the music live.

Requirements

All students must prepare and present an Ethnography as a final project for this class. This will require time and planning, so be sure that you allocate enough time to properly prepare your project. You will be required to go into the community and experience a musical culture at the personal level. It does not necessarily have to be a culture or a type of music of which you are not familiar, but that would probably be the most fulfilling experience you could have. Some possible aspects of your project should include:

1.One-on-one interaction and interview with a participant in the music culture you have chosen. This could be a musical artist or some other active participant in the music making process.

2.Live video and/or live audio recordings of the music making process (I will do this part)

3.Scholarly research into the music culture and music making process

4.Personal interjections about your own experience with the music culture

5.Any other relevant information that our class might enjoy knowing about the music culture

Do the above 4. I will do the audio/video clip part. Just do the other requirements and:

Write this as if you were there and attended and watch the music live.
