Proposal for Texting and Driving
I. Introduction
A. Topic
1) Research question: How effective are devices that disable in-car cellphone messaging in preventing deaths and accidents that are caused by texting and driving?
2) Working thesis: Although devices that disable in-car cellphone messaging can help curb texting and driving incidents, they are still not as effective in preventing accidents and deaths from texting and driving compared to the stricter implementation of rules and regulations that ban texting and driving.
3) Angle: Technology is imperfect in many ways and has many restrictions. It is also still controlled by humans, which means that an oversight on the part of the user can render the devices that prevent in-car cellphone messaging useless. The use of these devices are also not mandated by law, which means that their use for preventing text messaging while driving may not be employed by everyone.
