Assignment:
This paper will be your reflection/thoughts on the problems and potential solutions related to our education system. As with every reflection paper, it should be 1 to 2 pages, double-spaced, 12-point font (and no weird/extra spacing/fillers) - and you need to refer (make a connection) to at least one of the readings assigned.
Based on watching Dr. Morris's "Pushed out" TED talk and Frontline's "Separate and Unequal" episode, respond to the following questions.
1. What do you think of the information Dr. Morris presents in her TED talk? Please be specific in referring to at least two of her points.
2. What was your own experience with law enforcement officers in school?
3. What cultural and/or policy changes could be made to staunch the "school-to-prison pipeline?"
4. What arguments were being made by each side in the Baton Rouge, La school district disagreements?
5. What are your thoughts - which arguments are justified/reasonable? How is racism involved (whether intentionally or unintentionally resulting in racial disparities in school quality)?
