The assignment is for you to research DNA collection and to "Argue" to me the merits of your position and the Fourth Amendment. Do you support collection for any reason do you feel DNA should not be collected unless personal permission is given?
In every case brought before the Supreme Court there are two sides. It is the task of the Attorneys representing the two opposing sides to argue their position by providing supporting evidence of their claim. We touched on DNA as a tool for Attorneys in Court trials earlier in this block of Chapters.
Below are several DNA articles that discuss "sides" of the topic of DNA collection. Civil Liberty groups oppose the collection of DNA evidence without consent. Law Enforcement supports collection as a necessary tool to capture criminals. for current and past crimes.

The purpose of the Fourth Amendment is to uphold the privacy and security of individual persons against subjective invasions by the government and its officials. When the government violates an individual's "expectation of privacy", then an unlawful search has occurred.
