Research and discuss three to four different types of wireless technologies in a 350- to 700-word paper. Describe the characteristics and properties of each signal type, and how each can be used. Include a table or matrix that compares properties of the four types. Provide a hypothetical situation for each signal type that illustrates how it could be, or is being, used in a WAN. In what circumstance, for example, would a company choose to use a satellite signal? The introduction provides sufficient background on the topic and previews major points. Major points are stated clearly, are supported by specific details, examples, or analysis, and are organized logically. (Introduction) The conclusion is logical, flows from the body of the paper, and reviews the major points.(Conclusion) Citations of original works within the body of the paper follow APA guidelines.

Wireless Signals Wireless technologies provide networking services without wiring. There are four types of wireless technology. The first wireless wide area network (WWAN), a wide area network, covers a broad geographical area or from one country to another country. Wide area network consists of routers and fiber optics as hardware infrastructure. Wide area network includes some protocols such as ATM, MPLS and frame relay. Bandwidth and data allowed using the wide area network are slow as compared to the other three wireless technologies because of the broad coverage area. WAN uses radio waves to transfer data. An example of wide area network is internet service. WWN can be used for communication between two countries. The second wireless metropolitan area network (WMAN) is the wireless technology provide network access to a metropolitan city or the range of 31 miles. WMAN uses either infrared or radio waves to transfer the data from one end to another. WMAN is economically right as it required less amount of money for installation and it also saves time. WMAN can be used in government agencies and large organizations, or it can be used for communication purpose between two or more companies. The third wireless personal area network (WPAN) this wireless technology has the lowest range as compared to other wireless technologies. WPAN can be used to connect laptops, computers, mobiles and tablets with each other. WPAN mainly uses radio or infrared waves for data transfer. Bluetooth and infrared technologies are good examples where we can see WPAN technology. WPAN can be used for communication between two or more laptops, computers, mobile phones and other devices. The last one is a wireless local area network (WLAN) this wireless technology provides networking services inside a campus, school area, college or organizations. It is best-suited network option for business and home purpose. WLANs are used to provide the end user with access to network resources and network services and a gateway to the internet. Wi-Fi deployments are WLAN. Conclusion, the WPAN, WLAN, and WMAN can be used in a WAN. For WLAN, an individual can use WAN network services to connect his computer or laptop to access internet services. For WLAN, an individual can use the WAN network to connect his laptop to the internet services and can allow another person to connect to the same network using the Wi-Fi hotspot on his notebook. For WMAN, an organization can use the WAN network to access the internet and then allow its users to use the same network services via point to point or point to multiple points networking.
