Your course project will be to prepare a PowerPoint presentation and analysis of accounting standards of a foreign country and company. The purpose of this project is to allow you to demonstrate your understanding of an accounting standard setting process for a foreign country and apply this knowledge to a foreign company (multinational enterprise.)
The major components of the project are as follows:
- Research and analyze the accounting system of your selected country; present results in a brief paper.
- Research and analyze the quality of your selected company's annual report; present results in a brief paper.
• Summary PowerPoint presentation that demonstrates your understanding of the country's standards and the company's application of these standards.

Requirements
To begin the project, select a foreign company that is headquartered in your chosen country. Conduct research on the history of the accounting standard setting process and the current standard used in that country. In a 2-3 page information paper, describe the accounting system of your selected country. The paper should include how accounting standards are set (including a brief history), the influences of economic, political, financial and cultural factors in the standard setting process, and the future of the standard setting process (based on your opinion and research).
For the second part of the project, research the foreign company that is headquartered in your chosen country. In a 3-5 page paper, analyze the quality of the foreign company's annual report. Obtain the company's most recent annual report. This project is a critique of the informativeness of the foreign organization's annual report. You should evaluate the quality of the information provided by the company from the perspective of a potential investor. In other words, you should discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the annual report disclosures in terms of whether they provide relevant and reliable information to investors. Include background information of the company, strategies for raising international capital, and analysis of company's compliance of its home country GAAP. Include a comparison of the foreign country GAAP to U.S GAAP.
I have completed the first part of the project I need weeks 8 and 10 completed. The country I have chosen is Germany and the company that I have chosen to research is Daimler AG.
