Required graded elements notes from initial viewing grad

Required Graded Elements: notes from initial viewing (Grad Crit or Competent Speaker form), 250 word evaluation of the speaker and the speaker's message

This is a structured listening exercise that requires notes and an evaluation of the speaker’s effectiveness, in the form of an essay, based on those notes.

Select a speech from any online source- TED.org, youtube, the History Channel, sweetspeeches.com or AmericanRhetoric.com. Review and evaluate the speaker using either the grading criteria sheet or the competent speaking guide. These forms are in the COURSE CONTENT tab in Blackboard.

During the speech, look for specific details, e.g., the speaker’s central idea, his/her choice of attention getting material, any statements that describe speaker credibility, transitions between the points and parts of the speech, the use of supporting material and citations, demonstration of organizational skill in tying the information together and the establishment of a strong, reinforcing conclusion and make notes on your grading sheet.

Submit both the original notes and the subsequent evaluation for full credit. I've included a sample of notes in the Grading Criteria doc. Merely checking the items DOES NOT suffice as notes. You need to make more detailed entries to help substantiate your statements in the evaluative document.

Minimum length 250 words. Business and Professional Speaking Class
