Sola Scriptura is "Scripture Alone." This refers to the Bible, God's Word. It is the only guide needed for living a clean, wholesome, and purposeful life. There is no other source that needs to be used as a follow up or back-up to the Bible when it comes to law. Christians should view the laws as a tool to keep society from becoming complete anarchy. The basis of all laws can be found in God's Word. Christians should view the laws of the land as direct instructions from God since he has created all things. I never really delved deep into this truth until I began reading the textbook that accompanies this course. In my mind I have always had the mindset of two different sets of rules. Laws of the land being one and God's instructions from His Word another. This is a whole new perspective for me, so I am working it out as I go along. "God is the ultimate source of law; God's law is universal and unchanging; Only laws and judicial decisions consistent with God's laws are legitimate; Any law contrary to God's law is considered void or invalid." Mark A. Beliles and Douglas S. Anderson, Contending for the Constitution, 99 (2005). The purpose of the government is to make sure that laws are upheld according to what God's Word instructs. I believe as Christians we should keep our leaders lifted in prayer. Even for a leader who may not be God fearing or even a believer, I believe that God's will can persevere if prayed about diligently. World view simply stated is one's philosophical and conceptual view of the world. One's worldview would be drastically different if he/she was a Christian (at least it should be). Abortion is murder and God says "thou shalt not kill." Exodus 20:13 (KJV). Same sex marriage is against the written law of God. Romans 1:26-28 (KJV). God has spoken nothing needs to be added.
