Reflecting on Diversity of Feminism:

Description:

You have 4 questions to answer in depth, and each question should be 1-page long (275 words about without counting the question). I will upload articles related to each question (except for the second question, you have to look up the book by Audre Lorde “Sisters Outsiders”). Please note to encompass all areas of each question.

1-Judy Chicago went one step further and used the process of producing art as a way of empowering women. Explain how she tried to achieve this goal. What techniques and philosophy did she use to empower the women who worked with her? Do you think that her studio was a feminist space? Why or why not? (Chicago article)

2-Audre Lorde in her book Sister Outside spoke of the importance of all women working together to achieve freedom. In order to do so, there needs to be a common understanding between privileged white women and ?sister outsiders?. What did she see as the barriers to women achieving this common understanding? How did she see women overcoming their differences?

3-Science is objective and is not influenced by the social construction of knowledge and gender biases. Based on your readings, would you agree or disagree with this statement? Why or Why not? (Subramaniam and Wayne articles)

4-After reading the material on women in the Middle East, how would you debunk the myth that all Muslim women are passive and the victims? of harsh patriarchal practices such as seclusion and lack of rights? (Ali and Al-Ali articles)
