Problem: No doubt you have heard many land acknowledgements as they have become more common today, from the opening of sports events, to education settings, to social gatherings. While acknowledging the traditional territories of the people whose land we are on is important, for this assignment I invite you to reflect on your own personal connection to land. What land are you from? Where do you consider your homeland to be? What time do you spend on the land? Perhaps you have fears and apprehensions about the outdoors and exploring where you live. Why is that? I am inviting you to write from your heart to the land and express your gratitude for all the earth brings to us, provides for us, and teaches us.
