Application: Sentencing Differences Across States
• Select a specific type of crime and two states or locales to use for this assignment.
• Look up the sentences for the crime in each state you selected. To do this, you will have to search on the Internet for the sentences in your state or locale. You should search the following keywords: sentencing, guidelines, laws, commission, and your specific state or locale name.
• Reflect on the similarities and differences between the sentences.
• Identify the states or locales as well as the type of crime you selected.
• Compare (similarities and differences) the sentencing laws for the selected crime in the two states or locales you identified.
• Explain at least one insight you had or a conclusion you drew about sentencing laws as a result of your comparison.
