The resource based view (RBV) of strategy has a coherence and integrative role that places it well ahead of other mechanisms of strategic decision making. In determining the strategic resources available to a company, RBV is a dominant tool. The VRIO (Value, Rarity, Imitability, organization) model constitute a part of RBV.
