Recently, a discussion on increasing the minimum wage in the United States has developed. Historically, Democratic members of Congress typically support increases in the minimum wage while Republican members typically oppose such moves. Can you explain this in light of the arguments for and against increasing the minimum wage presented in lecture? In order for a Democratic initiative to increase the minimum wage to succeed, what other programs or policies need to be in place?
