Capstone Marketing Assignment: Real-world Marketing Decision-Making Scenario-

I. Read the two sample scenarios first. In this assignment, you will be writing one such scenario.

II. Select a company, business, firm, entity, nonprofit, doctors office, store, restaurant or any other organization unrelated to SUU. You will not get any credit if the organization is related to SUU in any way. It will help if you approach an organization where you know someone. Students from overseas - you must find an organization in your country. Once you have identified an organization, interview them to find an interesting marketing scenario. Make sure there is a marketing decision to be made in the scenario you describe. For example, in scenario-1, the marketing (customer service) decision to be made is "How should Dave Murphy handle this situation?" Scenario-2 is not related to Marketing but your assignment is to write a scenario related to Marketing. Begin your write-up by including the following information, in exactly the format below: Your name:

• Is this a really interesting scenario? (if not, find a different one)
• The marketing decision to be made here:
• The domain of your marketing scenario (positioning, segmentation, forecasting, advertising, pricing, new product development, sales promotion, salesforce management, branding, etc):
• Organization (students from overseas - you must find an organization in your country):
• Address of the organization:
• Person interviewed about the marketing scenario:
• Date interviewed:
• Email of the person interviewed:
• Phone number of the person interviewed:
• Permission obtained from organization (executive-level only) to disseminate (discuss, talk, write about) the scenario? You must find a company that gives you permission. It will help if you approach a company where you have a contact.
• Job title of this executive from whom you obtained permission to disseminate the scenario (this person must be a high-level executive in the organization):
• Email of this executive:
• Phone number of this executive:

IV. After providing the bullet points above, go on to write the actual scenario. Describe the marketing scenario in 2 to 3 single-spaced pages. Write it out like the sample scenarios (however, does NOT use the first person, i.e. don't use "I" like in scenario-2). Make sure the scenario ends with a marketing decision to be made.

V. At the end of your write-up, include a summary of your marketing scenario in two or three sentences. Mention the marketing decision.
