Raphaels most famous work is the school of athens painted

School of Athens Assignment
(willing to give more points if possible)
Raphael's most famous work is the School of Athens, painted for Pope Julius II's library (the Stanza della Segnatura). It is often found on the cover of Philosophy textbooks as many great philosophers in history are depicted. Your assignment is to discuss what figures are in the painting and how they represent the philosophical literature found in the Pope's library. By using at least THREE different research sources (NOT Wikipedia - which is not always accurate) find out how and where Plato, Aristotle and Socrates are shown. Are there references to Greek or Roman gods in the work? What people from the Renaissance era are depicted in the work? You do not have to identify every figure in the work but discuss at least EIGHT different figures. While Raphael was painting this work Michelangelo was down the hall painting the Sistine Chapel ceiling. Is there anything in the work that indicates Raphael saw Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel? FINALLY ehat other subjects die Raphael paint for this room? This assignment should be 3-5 pages and you must cite all of your sources. The assignment should be submitted as an attachment and may include details of the work to illustrate your discussion
