Raking adjustments is an alternative to the post stratification adjustments in the complex surveys which ensures that the adjusted weights of the respondents conform to each of the marginal distributions of the number of auxiliary variables which are available. The procedure includes an iterative adjustment of the weights using the iterative proportional-fitting algorithm. The technique is widely used in the health and other surveys when several population control totals are available. For instance, raking was used in the 1991 General Social Survey in Canada, the random digit dialling sampling telephone survey which concentrated on the health issues. In survey, province, age and sex control totals were taken in use.
