Performance Objectives:

1- I will give you a student exceptionality descriptions, and determine and/or describe 3 resources that the students’ schools could employ to meet his or her instructional and or/ academic needs, and give a brief summary of the student’s disability (i.e. elaborate on Quinn’s Bipolar I Disorder – explain what this disability is). Student descriptions are given below.

2-Clearly and thoroughly discuss 3 different resources that the school could use to help this student (i.e. for a particular subject, a change in the lesson plan may be warranted, so tell me what would be done to modify the lesson plan). Explain and elaborate on each resource in detail–do not leave me to guess what you are saying and why. Do not combine (objective 2) with (objective 3). These are two separate tasks.

3-Interview a person (someone other than yourself if you are in the profession) who has worked with a child with special needs or interview a parent of a child who receives special education services (i.e. choose one person and conduct one brief interview). Please provide a brief one or two sentence statement about the person being interviewed (e.g. Ms. X is a special education teacher in ABC district. She has been in the field for 7 years.) In your interview:

A. Identify in what ways the child has been or is being helped.

B. Identify what improvements may still be needed in the services/education that the child receives.

Student descriptions:

Martin is 6 years old and has Dyslexia. He struggles with reading because he can not match letters to sounds and blend them together to form words. So, he also has a problem with spelling words.
