Soil nails are mostly designed for stabilization of key slips. How can designer cater for stability of minor slips?
Answer
There are many methods to treat minor slips-
(i) Acceptance of smaller diameter size bars at closer spacing;
(ii) Setting up of tie beams at same horizontal levels;
(iii) Provision of steel wire mesh in-between soil nails; and
(iv) Provision of small soil nails in mixture of long soil nails.
