Quality planning
Quality planning helps to schedule all the tasks required to ensure that the project meets the customer needs. Quality plan is necessary to give the customer the confidence which will assure that a solution will be produced that meet the requirements. The quality plan indicates everything that has to be done to ensure the quality of the solution. Quality planning involves identifying the quality standards needed for the project. This is one of the main processes considered during the planning processes of project management plan development. The required changes in the product should meet the identified quality standards and this may need the cost or the schedule adjustments.
A quality plan will have to cover the following:
- What should go through quality check?
- What is the best way to check the quality?
- When should it be done?
- Who should be involved?
- What are the "quality materials" to be used?
In quality plan, the deliverables play a significant role. Any important deliverable from the project should go through some form of quality check. The requirements document can be considered important as it helps in checking if the quality of the deliverables is according to the requirements. Once the project has been initially established, it may be good to have the project management practices reviewed for quality.
The best way to check if the specific deliverable has met the standards is through the "Standard Audit" which is done by a person who focuses on the quality of the deliverables.
