Q. Explain basic types of Sand testing?
Moulding sands should be of proper quality to meet the required level of accuracy and surface finish of castings. Proper quality of the moulding sand will result in Sound castings that will decrease the cost and increase the production.
The following tests have been recommended by B.I.S.
• Moisture content test
• Clay content test
• Permeability test
• Fineness test or Sand grain size test
• Strength test
• Mould hardness test.
