Q. Can Diseases be etiological factor for diabetes?
Diseases: In aging, a very important cause of diabetes could be an underlying disease. Diabetes occurs secondary lo some other disorders, which may lead to insulin insensitivity or impaired secretion of insulin. These diseases are pancreatitis (inflammation of pancreas), carcinoma of pancreas, pancreatectomy (surgery of pancreatic duct). Mostly type 2 diabetes shows insulin resistance.
