Problem: It is important to have a basic understanding of the most popular psychological perspectives of criminology. In chapter 4, the section titled Psychology and Criminality, pp. 85-95, the following theories are outlined:
- Psychoanalytic Theory
- Moral Development
- Maternal Deprivation and Attachment
- Social Learning Theory
- Personality
Chose one of the psychological theories that you feel provides the most probable influence on criminal behavior. You will construct an academic argument to support your choice. An academic argument for our purposes has the following components:
- Explanation of the theory
- Claim - why are you choosing this theory?
- Grounds - evidence to support the claim
- Reservations - what are the theory's weaknesses?
