Psychological changes that affect teenagers well-being

Problem:

Adolescence is a stage of life that involves many physical, emotional, and psychological changes that can affect a teenager's overall well-being. During this period, many adolescents struggle with self-esteem, identity development, and social acceptance. Females may become more concerned about their body image and appearance because of peer influence, social media, and society's beauty standards. These pressures can negatively affect mental health and may lead some teenagers to develop unhealthy eating habits or behaviors. Eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder are common among adolescents and can have serious health consequences if left untreated. Research shows that body dissatisfaction, emotional stress, and pressure to achieve a certain body type are major risk factors for eating disorders in teenagers (Jebeile et al., 2021). According to Tan et al. (2022), early recognition and support are important because eating disorders can affect an adolescent's physical growth, emotional health, and social relationships.
