a. Define and describe what leadership is and discuss how one knows if leadership even exists or not.

B. One could reasonably argue that formal leadership in an organization does little, if anything, in terms of improving organizational outcomes.
a. Discuss the impact of the three components of "Substitutes for Leadership".
b. Why is competent leadership is not necessary at times and incompetent leadership can be counterbalanced by certain factors in the work situation.
C. Contingency theories, in general, state that the "effectiveness of leadership depends upon the situation, with numerous factors, such as the nature of the task, leader's personality, and the composition of the group or team being led.
a. Describe how it might be possible for a leader to be charismatic yet also practice the contingency theory of leadership.
b. Provide a specific example how this is practiced.
c. Provide an example of a leader who meets these parameters.
The response should include a reference list. Using one-inch margins, Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space and APA style of writing and citations.
