Instructions:
For this assignment, you will select three theories that could serve as foundational and formative for the literature review for your dissertation topic. You must select three sources for significant theories that are written by the primary theorists to serve as the basis for your analysis of your chosen theories. Your chosen sources must be primary sources or seminal works regarding the selected theories. You must select seminal works - those that are well established - for the theoretical framework.
For the third theory, you must use an artificial intelligence (AI) tool or resource to complete the prompts within the assignment template which must then include a critique of the AI generated content (not a critique of the formatting), as prompted in the template.

All submissions must reflect your own original scholarly analysis and writing. For each theory, the Galvan and Galvan course text and the Bible must both be used and cited. For each theory, biblical integration must be present.
Be sure to complete all the Learn sections in the module, and study the article by Grant and Osanloo (2014) before selecting a theory and before submitting this assignment.
If there is no seminal work with which you can frame your focused topic of your literature review (highly unlikely) then you will need to communicate with the course instructor regarding this. Selecting a work that is not a true theoretical framework for dissertations, will not be graded favorably.
For this assignment, you mustuse the provided template to complete the prompts.You will address all the prompts within the template and complete the following areas within the template for each of the three theory articles:
- You must provide the APA reference of the article, identify and summarize the theory (in 5-10 sentences), and identify recurring constructs within the theory.
- Next, you will identify the primary theorist(s)and explain where and how the theory originated.
- Then, you will identify quotes within the article regarding the theory that may be useful.
- You must also explain the role this theory might play in your dissertation and identify 3-5 new references cited in the article that may be useful to find and read.
- Finally, you will explain how this theory provides a foundation and framework for your dissertation topic and literature review.
- Current APA format is required for this assignment. You must use the template provided.
- Abstract and title page are not required for this assignment. You must use the template provided.
- A separate reference page is not required for this assignment. You must use the template provided.

At this stage in your doctoral journey, and specifically for this course, do not use the following or any secondary sources in your reference list: systematic reviews, integrative reviews, scoping reviews, and meta-analyses. These are secondary sources, and citing them is essentially the same as citing a review of other studies, rather than the original research. For your assignments, you must rely on primary, peer reviewed research articles. Primary sources report original data, methods, and findings, and these are essential for developing the critical research skills needed at the doctoral level. You may read systematic reviews and other secondary sources to help you understand your topic more broadly. However, if you come across useful studies within those reviews, locate and cite the original (primary) research articles from the reference lists rather than citing the review itself.
At this stage in your doctoral journey, you are in the coursework phase. Coursework prepares you for the dissertation phase, but it is not a substitute for the work required once you begin your dissertation. When you enter the dissertation phase, you will follow the direction and expectations of your Dissertation Chair. For now, please complete all assignments according to the requirements of this course, knowing that dissertation level guidance will come later from the Chair of your dissertation committee.
